As part of the construction of the new GUTIS pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in San José, Costa Rica, Aluma Systems supplied engineered formwork and shoring solutions tailored to the requirements of a state-of-the-art industrial construction project.
With a total construction area of 34,000 m², the new pharmaceutical plant incorporates artificial intelligence, automated production processes and a 30-metre-high robotic warehouse, establishing a new benchmark for pharmaceutical manufacturing technology in Central America. The facility includes production areas, quality control laboratories, office space and logistics infrastructure within a Free Trade Zone, while creating more than 150 new jobs.
Constructing a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing facility required versatile formwork and shoring systems capable of supporting a wide range of reinforced concrete structures, including walls, columns, slabs and precast beams.
The scale of the project, divided into five construction modules, demanded precise planning, continuous equipment availability and engineered solutions that would maintain construction efficiency without compromising quality or safety. At the same time, the project had to meet the demanding standards expected for a highly automated pharmaceutical production facility.
Aluma Systems worked closely with the general contractor, EDIFICAR S.A., to deliver a comprehensive formwork and shoring solution tailored to each phase of the project.
The RASTO wall formwork system was used for walls and columns, providing fast assembly, dimensional accuracy and high-quality concrete finishes. Aluma Frame and TOPEC systems were selected to support concrete slabs and precast beams, delivering efficient and flexible shoring solutions throughout the facility.
In addition to supplying equipment, Aluma Systems provided engineering services and on-site technical support to ensure every solution was optimized for the project's structural, logistical and productivity requirements.
