Advanced Tunnel Formwork Solutions

Scope

For the Site “C” Clean Energy Project, three advanced full-round, self-launching tunnel formwork systems were specifically designed and manufactured to support the construction of the project’s diversion tunnels. Each system was engineered for tunnels with a diameter of 10.8 m / 116 ft and a formwork length of 12 m / 129 ft. The solution enabled seamless casting of complete tunnel sections while supporting efficient and continuous construction progress within a highly demanding infrastructure environment.

Challenge

The project required a highly efficient tunnel construction solution capable of maintaining strict project timelines while operating under complex site conditions. Conventional tunnel formwork systems would have increased interruptions, installation effort, and logistical constraints inside the tunnels. In addition, the project schedule demanded timely production and delivery of all systems to avoid delays to the critical river diversion milestones. A flexible and reliable solution was therefore essential to ensure uninterrupted tunnel construction progress.

Performance

The full-round tunnel formwork systems enabled seamless casting operations and significantly reduced interruptions during construction. The hydraulically powered self-launching design allowed the systems to move through the tunnel independently without the need for rails or wheels, improving operational flexibility and reducing setup times. Through precise engineering, reliable manufacturing, and on-time delivery, the solution supported the successful achievement of critical project milestones and helped prevent delays to the overall Site “C” Clean Energy Project schedule.
