The Pont de Corneille de Rouen is an important bridge structure located in the historic French city of Rouen. As part of an extensive refurbishment program, the bridge required comprehensive re-painting works as well as the restoration of concrete sections to ensure the long-term durability and safety of the structure.
Due to the bridge’s location above water and the need to maintain pedestrian access throughout the project, the temporary works solution required a highly adaptable and technically sophisticated approach. The project demanded safe and efficient access systems capable of accommodating varying water levels while supporting multiple work phases simultaneously.
To support the refurbishment works, BrandSafway supplied a complete suspended access and scaffolding solution including approximately 3,000 m² (32,300 sq ft) of QuikDeck® suspended access platforms, 1,000 m² (10,800 sq ft) of MODEX scaffolding and five ST’AIR Towers.
The refurbishment of the Pont de Corneille bridge presented several technical and operational challenges. The bridge structure required secure suspended access beneath and around the deck while ensuring continuous safety for workers and pedestrians.
A cantilever solution was developed to accommodate both scaffolding systems and pedestrian traffic while adapting to fluctuating water levels below the bridge. In addition, the complexity of the structure required detailed engineering studies and precise assembly planning to ensure safe installation and efficient project execution.
Maintaining project continuity and minimizing disruption were also critical requirements. This demanded reliable logistics coordination, highly responsive assembly teams and efficient installation processes to keep the refurbishment works progressing smoothly.
BrandSafway delivered a tailored access and scaffolding solution specifically designed to meet the technical requirements of the Pont de Corneille refurbishment project.
The use of QuikDeck® suspended access platforms provided safe and efficient working areas while meeting the project’s high safety standards. The integrated combination of MODEX scaffolding systems and ST’AIR Towers enabled flexible access solutions for multiple work zones across the bridge structure.
Comprehensive technical studies and expert assembly services ensured the systems were installed safely and efficiently, even within the challenging conditions of the historic bridge environment.
Through strong operational support, rapid availability of assembly teams and effective project coordination, BrandSafway exceeded expectations and contributed significantly to the smooth and successful progression of the refurbishment works.
