Bavaria Towers, Munich

Modern skyscraper ensemble for Munich city East

Scope

Formwork planning for spectacular architecture of the four towers

Challenge

Pentagonal layouts and inclined roof surfaces

Performance

The building ensemble consists of the three office towers Sky Tower, Star Tower and Blue Tower with a total gross floor area of around 62,000 m² and the already rented White Tower hotel tower. There will also be two central underground garages with a total of 798 parking spaces.

The sloped roof surfaces of both towers, more than 9 m high - a ring stiffened by beams - are manufactured using Topmax system slab formwork tables with support towers from the Gass range. An international Hünnebeck development team with experts from Germany, England and the Netherlands has developed a special head especially for use on the Bavaria Towers that connects the Topmax steel frame tables with the Gass towers at the desired inclination of 11 degrees.

The formwork concept also includes the use of the innovative Topmax slab formwork tables (approx. 1,600 m2). Topmax proved its worth right from the start, as the high-rise construction site offers optimal conditions. Open floors of columns and slabs characterise the shell of the two towers. Load-bearing partition walls are largely dispensed with in favour of later flexibility of use. Ideal conditions for the steel-frame slab tables, which are specially designed for the efficient forming of large areas with a regular layout and repetitive character.
